Once transformed, these substances could be reintroduced into the tanning process or redirected to other market segments.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"632\" data-end=\"823\">The goal is to share with the business world the \u201cclosing of production cycles\u201d by both reducing waste generation and identifying suitable facilities capable of replacing landfill disposal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The project involves the following partners:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Italprogetti SPA<\/li>\n<li>Conceria Puccini Attilio SRL<\/li>\n<li>Conceria UPIMAR SRL<\/li>\n<li>University of Siena \u2013 Department of Biotechnology, Chemistry, and Pharmacy<\/li>\n<li>TE.CO. The active involvement of project partners is crucial in all phases, from research and development to industrial validation, to ensure the integration of innovations into the production process and their commercial scalability.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"946\" data-end=\"1098\">The activities of Operational Objective 1 (OO1) represent the technical-scientific foundation of the entire project. This initial phase will focus on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"1101\" data-end=\"1191\">Analysis and characterization of polyol-based raw materials used in the tanning process;<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1101\" data-end=\"1191\">Optimization of operational conditions for laboratory-scale tanning trials, aimed at defining parameters that maximize the performance of the finished product;<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1101\" data-end=\"1191\">Characterization of exhausted tanning baths to evaluate their environmental impact, with particular attention to potential recovery and recycling strategies;<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1101\" data-end=\"1191\">Analysis of solid post-tanning waste (e.g., trimmings), with the goal of identifying solutions for sustainable reuse based on their chemical-physical characteristics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1690\" data-end=\"1939\">The activities of Operational Objective 2 (OO2) are aimed at verifying the scalability of the process, ensuring that the product obtained on an industrial scale maintains the performance observed at the laboratory level.<br data-start=\"1910\" data-end=\"1913\" \/>This phase will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"1942\" data-end=\"2050\">Comparative tests between leather tanned with the new agent and leather obtained with traditional methods;<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1942\" data-end=\"2050\">Chemical, physical, and mechanical analyses on leather samples;<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1942\" data-end=\"2050\">A comprehensive evaluation of the environmental impact associated with the use of the new tanning technology.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n[\/vc_column_text][mk_button dimension=&#8221;flat&#8221;
