The “Consorzio Vera Pelle Italiana Conciata al Vegetale” was founded in 1994 by a small group of Tuscan tanners and quickly saw significantly increase the number of members.

Today, tanneries that its members are over 20, all operating in the Tuscan tanning district and share the production of vegetable tanned leather exclusively. The part of Tuscany between Florence and Pisa is, in fact, the only district Italian production of vegetable tanned leather of high quality. A natural leather 100%, that is suitable for any type of production and time and craftsmanship to be transformed into a combination of technology and tradition.

Aware that the strength of vegetable tanned leather is also in the Tuscan tradition, as guarantor and ambassador of this Tuscan excellence in the world, the Consortium has created a trademark of quality assurance of skins produced by tanneries: Vegetable-Tanned Leather in Tuscany.

The brand is promoted through a special warranty that provides a graphic accompanied by anti-counterfeiting and consecutively numbered and recorded that allows the traceability of both the supplier of the leather tannery that the manufacturer of the product.
